Vacuum Formed

Morgan Thermal Ceramics offers a wide range of insulating products which are made from a mixture of refractory ceramic fibre by vacuum forming. This process allows the production of a variety of configurations, tailored to our customers’ particular application and ranging from simple sections (such as sleeves, cones) to complex shapes.

These products are manufactured under our Kaowool® brand and include products such as organic boards, chambers, sleeves and shapes. These products feature low thermal conductivity, excellent thermal shock resistance, low heat storage, dimensional stability up to 1649oC (3000oF), and have a wide range of mechanical strengths.

Our Kaowool® vacuum formed boards are available in wide range of thicknesses and standard sizes, plus they can be supplied with both faces machined smooth for closer thickness tolerance. Typical applications for these boards are industrial metal and fire protection.

Our Kaowool® shapes are custom designed for high temperature applications up to 1704oC (3100oF) and can be used as an integral part of a design or as a one time use product. These shapes are typically used in the commercial, non-ferrous, light industrial and speciality steel industries.

Our machined shapes are produced on CNC machines for complex, tight tolerances. These are Inorganic bonded vacuum formed products which produce no off-gassing as well as minimal physical changes during the initial heat up.

We also manufacture a range of inorganic shapes which are custom designed for high temperature problems. They offer superior insulating performance, excellent aluminium resistance and good hardness and strength. They can vary according to binder content and retreatment agents. Within this range we offer burner blocks and peep frames which contain no organic binders, have low shrinkage, provide minimal heat storage, and resist thermal shock and spalling, and we have boards which can be supplied unmachined which are available from stock in standard sizes and thicknesses.

Our Kaowool® TBM™ Board products use refined Kaowool® fibres, pure fillers and binders in conjunction with a unique thermal bonding manufacturing process. This process created special insulation boards with high temperature stability, excellent strength and hardness, and exceptional machinability for precise dimensional control.

Kaowool® TBM™ is available in simple shapes, such as boards and discs, as well as more complex machined shapes to provide engineered solutions to tough material and design issues.

Kaowool® TBM™ products find application in aluminium sheet plate and foil casting tips, aluminium casting rings, defence armours shielding and other non-ferrous contact parts.
