Vacuum Formed
Morgan Thermal Ceramics’ vacuum formed Superwool® Fibre products allows the production of a variety of configurations, tailored to the particular application and ranging from simple sections (such as tubes, cones and flat shapes) to complex shapes (such as combustion chambers).

Our vacuum formed products feature excellent hardness properties, excellent themal shock resistance, molten iron and steel resistance and they are very easy to machine allow for the manufacture of ‘tailor made’ shapes. They also feature low thermal conductivity, good erosion resistance and rigidity and are flame resistant. These products have a homogenous structure, have low heat storage and are lightweight with a good cycling performance.
Our Superwool® Fibre products are unaffected by incidental spills of oil or water and their thermal and physical properties are restored after drying. They also provide stability and resistance to chemical attack except against hydrofluoric acid, phosphoric acid and strong alkalies (i.e. NaOH, KOH).
The Superwool® Fibre family specialises in vacuum formed boards and shapes.
Morgan Thermal Ceramics Superwool® Fibre boards are processed from a slurry consisting of Superwool® Fibre bulk and organic binders. Each board has cut edges for controlled squareness and trueness. Boards up to 90cm (36in) wide may be ordered with both surfaces machined smooth to a close thickness tolerance.
Our vacuum formed Superwool® Fibre boards coming in two forms: Superwool® 607® Fibre PM boards and Superwool® I-607® Fibre boards.
Superwool® 607® Fibre PM boards are processed from a slurry consisting of Superwool® Fibre bulk and organic binders. This board product is noted for its excellent surface finish, thickness uniformity and high insulating value at elevated temperatures.
Superwool® I-607® Fibre boards are processed from a slurry consisting of Superwool® Fibre bulk and inorganic binders. Each board has cut edges for controlled squareness and trueness.
Both of these products are available in a variety of sizes and thicknesses which reduces the thickness of backup insulation up to 50% when replacing insulating firebrick or castables. They are rigid, self supporting finer insulation products which have low thermal conductivity and heat storage. They are also non-wetting to molten Aluminium.
Our Superwool® Fibre vacuum formed boards are an excellent alternative to molten Aluminium contact. Other applications include:
- Molten Aluminum contact
- Furnace, kiln and oven hot face linings
- Appliance and heat processing equipment insulation
- Combustion chamber construction for domestic appliance
- Heat shields
- High temperature gaskets and seals
- Flue and chimney linings
- Insulation as backup to: - firebrick - insulating firebrick - refractory castables - rammed shapes
