Thermal management and fire protection are paramount in railway applications. Products from the Thermal Ceramics business of Morgan Advanced Materials offer high-temperature fibre and microporous application solutions for rail.

Tanks cars are designed or retrofitted with Superwool® Tank Car blankets. Specified and fire tested to DOT requirements, Superwool Tank Car blankets provide up to 25% material weight savings in addition to thermal management and fire protection.

Critical data recorders, commonly known as the “black box”, look to microporous solutions similar to materials used in aerospace applications. WDS® Microporous provides solutions for rail applications to meet the demands required for the Critical Data Recorder application requirements.

Refrigerated tank cars look for product solutions for thermal management insulation across a wide temperature range; -50°C and 80°C. Vacupor® Vacuum Insulation Panels are used by manufacturers and transporters of tank containers because they offer effective insulation, are lightweight, saving valuable space within the tank. Standard-sized containers insulated with Vacupor panels typically offer 20% more useful internal volume than those insulated with competing materials.

With manufacturing facilities and sales offices in more than 40 countries, we are able to supply tank container insulation anywhere in the world. Contact us for more information.
