To ensure our business is aligned with market needs, we constantly monitor World economic trends and adapt our strategy accordingly.
Our commitment to R&D is a critical part of this approach. In recent years, we have consistently increased the proportion of our profits that we reinvest into the development of new technologies and new products, from 1.7% of sales in 2013 to 2.1% in 2015, with further investment in R&D planned over the next 5 years.

To reinforce our commitment to these goals, we continue to invest in our world-leading Fibre Centre of Excellence, where we develop leading edge materials science and process technologies to deliver new and improved low bio-persistent Superwool products, and in a regional network of development and application laboratories, where we deliver new products across the full range of our product groups. These include specialist laboratories supporting the design of new and bespoke customer solutions utilizing Converted Fibre, Insulating Firebrick, Castables and Microporous products and where we develop engineered systems for high temperature insulation, thermal management, passive fire protection and a range of other demanding environments.
Our globally managed Innovation process is key to ensuring we listen and respond to our customers’ needs and that we bring our global network of technical and application engineering resources to bear efficiently in solving their problems. Our close ties with relevant academic and industry partners allow us to bring ever more innovative solutions to the market. Thermal Ceramics is committed to maintaining the skills, structure and systems to constantly improve the performance of our existing products and reinvigorate our product portfolio through a sustained program of new product launches over the coming years.
